Back to El Mirage...

On January 23rd, The Knights of the West Coast made history by visiting one of the most recognized locations in Knight Rider - El Mirage Dry Lake Bed in near Adelanto, CA.

This historic location was featured in the opening and closing titles of the Knight Rider television series and had a specialized purple tint placed over footage of KITT driving across the dry lake. Nearly 30 years later, Knights of the West took some of their replicas out to his historic location for a little photo shoot.

Unfortunately the experience was more than any of us bargained for as we faced 30-40 mph winds, dropping temperatures, and other surprises like our precious KITTs breaking down from traveling through such rugged terrain.

Here's some photos I managed to snap for your viewing enjoyment of our little adventure:

(I apologize for not stacking these photos side by side but blogspot is being a pain in the butt)

You can find more of my shots at the link below:

Nicks El Mirage Facebook Album

All in all it was a great time at the ol' El Mirage Dry Lake Bed and history was made. I even managed to get a photo with The Knight Rider Companion, right in the middle where it all began with a setting sun to end the day and despite the high winds, it was a great trip!

We hope to return again soon to get some better footage of the cars and less turbulent photos.

Until the next time, enjoy!

-Nick
